What’s This Blog About?
My therapist told me she loved me and caused a nervous breakdown. This blog will tell my story, from my point of view, and hopefully make you aware of some red flags I missed.
In a culture that has de-stigmatized therapy, which is good, there are more patients looking for therapists than there are good therapists to take them, which is not. Getting the wrong one, someone unprepared to help you, or whose own issues get in the way, can do great emotional damage.
When I started to lose faith in my ability to know what was going on with my therapist, I started recording sessions. There are excerpts from these sessions in many of the posts here. You’ll hear her admit to and try to justify her behavior. This is not my wounded word, this is all documented. For that, I’ve also included screenshots of text exchanges and emails.
Read all at once, the story is long. Read in chunks, less so. Each post, written as chapters in the story, has a description. Feel free to skip to the bits you find more interesting if you don’t want the full meal. I wound up with PTSD from living it, but it shouldn’t be a burden on you unless you find it interesting.
